What is a modelling portfolio?
What is a modelling portfolio?
Welcome back to the Studio 1 Modeling blog, where we bring you all the latest fashion trends and keep you updated with news in the fashion industry. Building your modeling portfolio can seem scary at first but here are a few tips to make the process easier.
The first thing you need to do is decide what kind of model you want to be. Be realistic with your choice. There are many different types of modeling from runway to retail to parts modeling so there is a lot to choose from. Be sure the type of model you want to be is acheivable for you. Once you have decided what kind of model you want to be, you can begin researching what you will need to reach your goals and be successful.
Next, you will need to have your pictures taken to bring to castings. You will need to have a variety of images. Agencies want to see different looks and poses. The four most important looks to have are a basic white T- Shirt and jeans look, an athletic or swimwear look, a personal style look, and a formal look. In addition to these four looks, you will want to have plain images in a basic look with no hair or makeup done.
There are agencies who will ask for these plain images so it is best to always have them with you. You will also need to have three types of images. Make sure you have full body shots, ¾ shots, and headshots. After having your images taken, you should have them printed out. While you can submit digital images to some agencies, there are times when you will have to bring in physical copies of your photos to agencies.
After you have had your professional photos taken, you need to market yourself and get your name out there. Create social media platforms that are specific to your modeling career. Building a website is a great way to get your name out there. It is important that your website is different from your social media. It should highlight your best images and include your statistics. You can create blogs or videos about your modeling experiences to upload to your website or social media as well..
Lastly, you need to put in the work to get your modelling portfolio. Agencies will not knock on your door and ask you to model for them. You will need to apply to multiple agencies. Most applications will need you to include a resume. Spend time creating a professional resume to send out to agencies and bring to castings.
These are just a few of the many ways to begin building your portfolio. We hope you enjoyed this blog and will subscribe for more.
